How to Take Outdoor Portraits with Auxiliary Lighting
During my excursion for my Professional Imaging class I had the chance to take portraits in amazing locations. I wanted to make the landscape just as much part of the photo as the subject. It was an interesting task to take a portrait while still portraying the environment around my subject.
This article really helped me improve and gave me some amazing tips. The most important thing I learned is that the best way to take these kind of portraits is by using aux lighting such as speedlights and strobes to have both the subject and the background exposed. When both the background and the subject are exposed they work together to create a beautiful image. I took advantage of Jackson’s beautiful scenery and took some themed outdoor photos. Here are my photos, followed by some set up shots.
